Rob and Joi met 3.5 years ago working long, tedious shifts at an evil call center. Their relationship blossomed as Joi kept bringing Rob homemade sweets, as she knew the way to his heart was through his stomach. Rob would serenade Joi with his guitar, and true love was born through cooking and music.

Nowadays, the home cooking and guitar playing has been substituted so they can follow their other passion, entrepreneurship. Rob opened his first business 2 years ago, called The Rock Garden rehearsal spaces. The Rock Garden is the best place in Halifax if you are looking for a place to practice your rock star chops. And from the Rock Garden, From Here To There Records was spawned. It was either do something proactive or sit around watching YouTube all day. We chose the proactive route.

Joi:

Also known as Johanna Gerrits
Johanna grew up in very rural Nova Scotia, where people drove their tractors to school and smelled of pig poop. The first CD she ever bought was The Lion King soundtrack, she was 11 years old. Then as Joi grew wiser and older, she stumbled onto Nirvana, however bored with them, she looked to some of their influences and found her first favorite band ever to be The Sex Pistols. This opened the door to other punk bands, and a new world of music.
Older, but not wiser Johanna decided it was time to gain some much needed knowledge and took off for the great white north of North Bay, Ontario to take Small Business Management at Canadore College. While there she met loads of great people and went on to present to some of the biggest CEO's in North America. She returned to Halifax to pursue a degree in International Development, but found her heart was in business and the arts, in which Rob provided the perfect opportunity at The Rock Garden to start our record label.
You can now find Joi in the The Rock Garden working her butt off alongside Rob, or at home watching ANTM and cuddling with her cat Neko Yoshi.
